I would like to thank everyone who attended our first Fish-In of the year to make it a huge success. There were well over 120 people in attendance and over 20 boats fished it. There were over 180 fish caught and a little over half were Coho salmon. We’re sponsored again by R&R Sports the Fish’N Hole and this means more gift certificates at the end of the season. There will be certificates for the top ten boats and biggest fish for all five species. Four of the five big species will receive $25 certificates and the biggest overall fish will receive a $50 certificate. Each Fish-In will also award trophies for the top three boats, big adult fish and big junior fish.
Boats:
1st:$150
2nd$100
3rd$75
4th-5th$50
6th –10th $25
What is a Fish-In? It is a fishing contest the GLSF Club holds 4 times a season. The dates are 5/30/10, 6/27/10, 8/1/10 & 8/29/10. The rules for the contest are posted at our club web site GLSFCLUB.COM. The weigh-in and picnic that follows is held at the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center. The cost for each contest is $5 for lunch and you get burgers, brats, side’s deserts and beverages. Believe me this is a great value. There is room to park your trailer or if you slip your boat drive your cooler over. The captain does need to be a member of the club but you can join at the weigh-in. If you fish Lake Michigan you really need to join your ports local salmon club because we are doing all the work to keep this fishery outstanding and we need you as members to at least show your support for the fishery.
Fishing in this contest will make you a better fisherman and lead to your catch rate increasing. There is not a single boat that has fished in these who would not agree to this statement. If you missed the first Fish-In you still can be in the running for a top ten finish because we only keep 3 out of 4 scores or the lowest score is thrown out. Please call me at 414-460-1467 with questions and to register for a Fish-In call before Friday of the week of a Fish-In, so I know how much food to order. Guys I promise there will be enough beer next time!
Thanks, Kurt Pokrandt - Chairman-Fish Ins
